a month in myrtle

Welp.  We've been at our summer project with students and judging by the void of blogging, you can tell it was busy.  I've loved it and am sad to leave all these fun college friends. But we left yesterday and are back in GA for a little while before heading to Louisiana and then in MN for a few weeks.

Here are a few shots of where we've been:

Thankfully Myrtle Beach is a popular vacation spot for other friends too, which means they come to visit us! Cait and Chris work with high school students and we love getting to see them almost every year in Myrtle!

Hubs birthday was a few days ago and it was a blast to make a trip out of Charleston.  We snuck away Friday night and stayed downtown using our fav travel site Priceline (seriously, we're always talking about it!).  I'd heard of Five Loaves so we stopped there for an incredible dinner, reasonably priced (crab fettuccini and shrimp gnocchi).  We couldn't stop talking about how good it was, especially the handmade gnocchi and shrimp dish.  After some good sleep in a much more comfortable bed, we went for a run, enjoying the lower humidity and new surroundings.  And of course found a Starbucks to hang out in for some morning reading and coffee.  We headed over to Poogan's Porch for some incredible shrimp and grits and brunch.  This is a must-do in Charleston.

Andrew is a huge history buff especially with the Civil and Revolutionary Wars, much meant I sucked it up and we spent an hour or two perusing the Confederate War Museum in Charleston. All in the name of love.  We walked over to the nearby waterfront and hang out before making our way over to a Charleston Riverdogs game, my b'day gift to hubby.  The Riverdogs are the 1A minor league team of the Yanks.

And though it sounds like a perfect day, I left our the part about the dumb fight we got in about eating dinner- I'd already made plans, but hubs wasn't hungry after a big brunch.  Anyway we were frustrated with each other but still went to the game and made up while there.  We left the game around 9:30.  We got in the car and started driving back to Myrtle.  So for my husbands 31st b'day, we went through the drive-thru at Arby's.  Love you, babe! Ha.  Here's to birthday curly fries.
