summer days

It has been amazing weather up here this summer.  I love having my husband around and being with my little guys.  The days can feel so long at times, but to think that July is over half way done is crazy.

Lately, Andrew's been on a cooking kick.  Woah.  Pigs are flying.  But really, it's been so nice.  I used to have the Food Network on all the time (I used to hate silence and needed background more- things change with kids though!) and he saw this chocolate cake that he really wanted to make.  I'm not a huge chocolate fan, but this is so good!  And to me the icing is what makes it!  Tonight he smoked a roast and it too was great.  It's been such an incredible blessing having him not only help with the kiddos, but even with meals. I often think what I would do without him!

Trip down south

Apparently it's been a month since I've blogged, uploaded pictures and used my computer...  Mainly that's because A and I just got back from a 3+ week trip down to South Carolina and Georgia to visit our summer project for college students and then spend time with family.

The trip down was, well, hard. We stopped in Wisconsin for a wedding and that thankfully broke up the trip.  After that it was 2 full days to make it to Myrtle Beach, SC.  Day 1 was great.  Day 2- lets just say it's God grace that Andrew and I made it down there with the boys still in the car.  At one point I threatened to leave them in the grass at a rest stop...so basically, a new low.  Ha! Thankfully we're passed that (for now!).

Enjoying the shade in South Carolina (Jackson left, Gray right)

Taking them to the beach for the first time was such a blast.  Way more draining than just suiting up and laying out in the pre-kid days, but still fun.

Grayson didn't enjoy it as much!

Time with our families was great.  Draining at times, but over all good to see them and a blessing to have help with the babes. We stopped first at my in laws in metro Atlanta and then on down to LaGrange to see my parents.  My grandmother and aunt also drove up from Louisiana to see the munckins and that was such a treat!

the boys were excited to celebrate dad's birthday...especially Jackson in the left!
